Our Story

What has your story been thus far?

If you’ve wandered through quiet storms, carried invisible weights, or longed for something sweet like a place to coexist, rest, create, and reconnect, you’ve found a creative space. I offer a pathway to acknowledge the tougher chapters we’ve ignored or buried. Art and writing have always been my way through and they are how this space came into being.

I relate deeply to those with sensitive nervous systems, what’s often called PTSD. Without even realizing it at first, art became how I processed and released the big, overwhelming moments of life. For me, it was the tool that helped me pivot out of harmful thought loops and into something lighter, something freer.

To better understand what I was experiencing, I started studying psychology and human behavior, which eventually led me to trauma-informed therapy focused on the fascia, the connective tissue in our bodies that holds memory. What I’ve learned is that no amount of talk therapy can fully release what the body remembers. As long as there’s tension, the mind will try to make sense of it, and those “reasons” can create the thought patterns that pull us into depression.

Some pain needs to be gently reenacted so the body and mind can finally recognize that it’s safe now. Other pain is still too tender to touch directly. This is where art becomes powerful because it lets us connect without having to rip open the wound. It offers a way in.

I started drawing before I could even write. I’d pass the time creating characters and stories, and that instinct to create stayed with me. It led me to earn a BA in Graphic Design with a minor in Fine Art. I never imagined I’d be using my art in such a personal and transformative way.

Even with all the advances in technology, I feel a strong calling to remind you of your own creative mind so that we can create better boundaries for ourselves. Strong personal boundaries create better relationships and, in turn, create stronger bonds within the community. Your creative mind is still one of the most powerful keys to processing emotion, connecting to yourself, and moving toward something different.

This is the space I stitched together with that knowledge.

Who I Am & Why I Care

I am Ke’Aira Dickerson, Founder of Restored Essence, a grassroots initiative dedicated to creating safe and supportive spaces in our community.

Like many, I have survived and learned every day to be grateful for this experience. What I’ve been taught the most is how isolating life can be. Today I’m committed to breaking that silence: educating about creating healthy boundaries through Art Therapy and supporting those in reclaiming their power.

How I Serve:

  • Peer Support Spaces: Guided conversations where we share stories, build trust, and learn healthy boundaries.
  • Mindful Practices: Gentle art therapy, breath work, The Resonance Compass, and creative exercises that foster safety, self-compassion, and resilience.

My Vision:

No one should have to fight for space or safety. By combining education, community care, and mindful practices, it’s my goal to create the room we deserve.

Philosophy

We want to be clear from the start.

This is not a replacement for professional therapy. It is a self-guided, peer-led journey, one step, one beat, one day at a time. This is an alternative space grounded in shared experience and mutual care, not a clinical one. We’re not here to label or diagnose. For complex emotional needs, please reach out to a licensed therapist who can offer you the clinical support you deserve.

Our approach is built on gentle redirection.

We incorporate insights from modalities like Neurofeedback; which helps regulate fear-driven brainwave patterns by attuning to calming frequencies, but we translate this into accessible, creative practices. The aim is to gently map our emotional landscape and support the soft release of stored tension.

The Anchor Point Starts With The Resonance Compass.

This isn’t therapy. It’s a practice in mindfulness. Get your mat ready.

The Resonance Compass, along with the Navigational Compass Guidebook, will be released soon. When the time comes, you’ll be guided by a simple rhythm, one beat at a time. There’s no pressure, no comparison, and no need to perform for anyone else.

Boundaries Begin Within.

Boundaries aren’t just about saying “no” with confidence.

They’re about knowing yourself deeply enough to protect your energy, your time, and your inner safety. This journey is here to support you in building boundaries from the inside out.

It’s an invitation to tend to early-life wounds that may still influence how you show up today. Not to relive the past, but to shift what gets passed forward. So you can pass on strength, not stress.

This work is about cultivating clarity, self-trust, and a steady rhythm that lives within you. Think of it as a daily compass, gently pointing you back to center.
